Eighth Annual Children’s Pro-Am Raises $240,000, Crosses Million Dollar Mark
Rain showers couldn’t dampen the giving spirit this year at the Eighth Annual Children’s Pro-Am, led by CCA Board Member Grant Hammersley and presented by Davidson Benefits Group and Regence BlueCross BlueShield of Oregon. The tournament has raised more than $1 million, with 100% of proceeds benefitting The Children’s Cancer Association (CCA), since its inception in 2008 and over $240,000 this year alone.
The Children’s Pro-Am attracts PGA professionals from across Oregon and Southwest Washington, coming together for one common goal — to carry out CCA’s mission of providing innovative, free-of-charge programs that leverage music, friendship, play, and resources to create transformative moments of joy for seriously ill children and their families.
“Everyone has a personal story, a brother, mother, child, or friend, who’s affected by cancer or serious illness,” said Grant Hammersley, CCA Board Member, Vice Chairman of Opus Agency, and Founder of the Children’s Pro-Am. “I’m honored and proud of the Oregon Golf Club community for their support of CCA; I never dreamed we would raise a million dollars and have such a powerful impact.”
The Pro-Am tournament’s Winning Pro was Bob Rannow of Ocean Dunes Golf Links. The winning team was led by Jeff Kragt, playing alongside amateurs Patrick Johnson, Travis Paul, Chris Duffin, and Phil Nelson. Following the tournament at the prestigious Oregon Golf Club, there was a special keynote from CCA Board Member John Grothe and Chief Joy Officer Regina Ellis.
