Happy 29 Years, JoyRx!
Today on July 25, JoyRx celebrates our twenty-ninth birthday as an organization. It’s been an inspiring and humbling twenty-nine years and we’re so grateful for all of our supporters coming on this journey with us.
JoyRx began as the Children’s Cancer Association in 1995, founded by the Ellis Family after their five-year-old daughter, Alexandra, died of cancer. Along with other parents, pioneers, and dreamers, they set out to create something extraordinary: an organization with a new vision for what pediatric cancer support services can look like.
We’re honored to have served hundreds of thousands of kids and their family members around the United States in these nearly thirty years. Since our founding in 1995, we’ve celebrated over two million joyful interactions with our three programs: JoyRx Music, Mentorship, and Nature.
The demand for our services is needed now more than ever, and we aren’t stopping any time soon. We’re committed to reaching as many children nationwide as possible with plans for expansion into new hospitals, new states, and new regions of the US.
What began at the Ellis Family’s kitchen table has grown to one of the largest children’s health nonprofits in the Northwest, with roots growing in Austin and New York. Here’s to another year of bringing joy to those who need it most.
Happy birthday, JoyRx!
