Prescribe Joy Today: Group Volunteer Opportunities

If you belong to a corporate or community group that engages in volunteer opportunities, we have many ways in which your team can help. Our volunteer groups make an immeasurable impact on the children and teens we serve. Learn more about the opportunities below.

Help at an Event

Children’s Cancer Association’s programs are fueled by fundraising events throughout the year. Tournaments, festivals, and galas are just a few examples of the fun events that rely on your volunteer support. We can accommodate many group sizes at our event volunteering opportunities.

  • Commitment: Approximately 3 hours (depends on event)

  • Group Size: 5-15

  • Tasks: Coat check, selling raffle tickets, registration, greeting, etc.

Bracelet Creation

Feeling crafty? Visit our office (or we’ll come to you!) and macramé away to create handmade friendship bracelets for us to share with kids and families in the hospital, volunteers, and donors as thank you gifts, and to give away at events to raise awareness about CCA. No artistic ability or bracelet-making experience required!

  • Commitment: 1-2 hours during business hours

  • Group Size: Any

House/Yard Work for a Family

Finding the time to complete housework with a seriously ill child can be a challenge. Your volunteer group will help complete house work and/or yard work for a family.

  • Commitment: 2 hours (excluding travel time); must be flexible with scheduling

  • Group Size: 5-12

  • Tasks: House work and/or yard work

Caring Cabin Work Party

Take a day trip to our beautiful Caring Cabin in Pacific City to help with yard work, general maintenance, and other tasks to keep the cabin looking sharp! CCA’s co-founder Cliff Ellis will join you on-site and lead your group in the tasks for the day.

  • Commitment: 7 hours (3 hours work + 4 hours travel); must be flexible with scheduling

  • Group Size: 10-30

  • Tasks: Yard work, general maintenance

Joy for the Holidays

CCA’s Joy for the Holidays delivers compassion and joy to local families who have a seriously ill child and are experiencing severe financial difficulty. Your group will be matched with a family and given a wish list of requested essential needs, as well as a few fun gifts.

  • Commitment: Varied hours in December; Financial investment up to $200 per sponsored family member

  • Group Size: Any Size

  • Tasks: Gift shopping, purchasing, wrapping, and delivery
